Why are Mesothelioma and Asbestosis Sites so Common?

February 24th, 2005
ADVERTISEMENTS

A simple search shows a recent growing number of sites related to mesothelioma and asbestos. Why? Simply because several forums and websites have published high paying keywords lists for popular advertisement programs like Google Adsense and mesothelioma and asbestosis come around the top.

Introduction to mesothelioma and Asbestosis

Malignant mesothelioma is a disease in which cancer (malignant) cells are found in the lungs pleural sac (pleural mesothelioma), or the peritoneum lining of the abdominal cavity (peritoneal mesothelioma). Shortness of breath and pain in the chest are often symptoms of pleural mesothelioma. Symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma include weight loss and abdominal pain and swelling. Mesothelioma is most commonly found in people who worked in jobs where they breathed absestos. A history of asbestos exposure exists in almost all cases. Mesothelioma symptoms may not appear until 30 to 50 years after exposure to asbestos. Mesothelioma treatment depends on the location of the cancer, the stage of the disease, and the patient’s age and general health.

Why advertisers to pay more for rare lung cancers like mesothelioma?

Mesothelioma patients often contact a laywer or attorney for lawsuits against an employer or product manufacturer for using absestos, and they risk getting the disease. Lawyers and attorneys get thousands of dollars for themselves and their patients by winning such law cases. Promoting awareness of mesothelioma symptoms, its varied treatment options and asbestosis helps to bring more such cases to them. Higher advertising costs are a very small compared to the money they win in these law suits.

However, As the idea gains popularity, many more mesothelioma lawyers get involved, the competition increases and so does the price to display their ads on top. But as more sites become available, all these competitors will get surfers from many more sites and the cost of showing ads will go down. Anyway there is no information about the price payable after commission of these words as it is against the terms of service of these programs.

Have you actually used these high paying keywords and got a high CTR? Not me.

Before there were google ads, I was looking for asbestos abatement regulations. At that time “asbestos” at google was completely overwhelmed by dozens or hundraeds of fake sites that funnelled traffic back to one law firm. I added “-mesothelioma” to the search to filter the junk out. I wouldn’t be surprised to find the same firm still gaming the system.

there is nothing wrong with creating a mesothelioma website, but some people miss the google smart pricing part and dont get more then 3 cents per click…if you want a piece of the mesothelioma advertising revenue then you have to work hard on your website and make it something worthwhile not just 5 pages.. and update it ofthen.

  3. Maybe websites want to help people diagnosed with mesothelioma?
