ADVERTISEMENTS

Boing Boing is a directory of wonderful things. It is a very popular blog and was recently the winner of the 2005 Bloggies. Boing boing turns out a wide array of interesting articles everyday and I have been a regular visitor to their site since.

Then there was a interesting launch of Boring Boring – The directory of dull things.

Actually the Boing’s acknowledged the Boring’s on their blog as Boring Boring: Awesome April Fools’ parody of Boing Boing

“Some anonymous geniuses whipped up this incredibly thorough parody of Boing Boing. I LOLed until my very eyeballs popped out. The detail is frightening (note the “Studious Girls” ads), as is the volume of witty, nuanced little references to actual crap we’ve blogged.”

What started as an innocent copy and parody site seems to have led to some copyright issues

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am legal counsel for and write on behalf of celebrated science fiction author Cory Doctorow and the award-winning website BoingBoing. We have recently learned that your organization, BoringBoring, is violating Mr. Doctorow and BoingBoing’s copyrights by posting on your site, www.boringboring.org, certain copyrighted content from www.boingboing.net.

Well if you are still wondering, just read till the bottom of the post. It was again all part of the April fools joke and parody drama. Dont believe anything posted on the 1st of April – or get fooled. Boing Boinged!
