When Did Google Index Your Site?

April 5th, 2005
ADVERTISEMENTS

How do you find when Google went around and indexed / added your site to its huge search database. The googlebot comes around visiting your site from others linking to you, if you requested your site to be added to Google or if it came back to revisit your site to check for any new content.

Googlebot revisits your site depending upon how quickly your content changes. If it comes and finds your site unchanged, it may revisit after one month. If everytime it visits your site and finds loads of new informative content, it may decide to come back more frequently and eventually several times a day!

Just search for your url in the Google search form. Add http://yourblogname.com
If your site is indexed, it will list the title, description and url of your site.

Below it are several links – See the first one.
Show Google’s cache of yourblogname.com/

Just click on this link and this is what it revealed for my blog-

This is G o o g l e’s cache of http://pchere.blogspot.com/ as retrieved on 28 Mar 2005 10:20:30 GMT.
G o o g l e’s cache is the snapshot that we took of the page as we crawled the web.
The page may have changed since that time. Click here for the current page without highlighting.
This cached page may reference images which are no longer available.

This shows that my blog was indexed by google on 28 March 2005. That means most of my links which were reachable from the main page must have been indexed. The new posts after that are not indexed yet. If I keep on checking again every day, I get to know when it revisits my site again and I can get most of my information in before that time.

Google pays my blog a visit every 7 days it seems, lets see when it decides to come back !

    Thanks for good information.

  2. Hi there, thanks. I’m pretty sure it is possible to look in your weblog to see when the googlebot visited your site. There are so polite as to leave a message behind. Any hints to this, anyone?
