Development of Firefox 2 Roadmap

May 23rd, 2005 | Filed under Firefox.
ADVERTISEMENTS

Firefox 2 Roadmap highlights the development path of the Firefox 2 web browser.

Some excerpts below -
“We are planning for a Firefox 2.0, but will divide the planned work over (at this point) three major Milestones, 1.1 (July 2005), 1.5 (unscheduled) and 2.0 (unscheduled). All major development work will be done on the Mozilla trunk, and these releases will coincide with Gecko version revs.”

“We’re going to replace the existing nomenclature for pre-releases from alpha and beta to “Developer Preview” and “Preview Release” to more solidly differentiate them. The reason: for some time people have associated Firefox Preview - Releases with high quality and we want to make sure there are no guarantees made of any pre-release we offer. We also want to make it clear that Developer Previews in no way represent final or feature-complete code.”

“Firefox 1.1, 1.5 etc will be called simply “Mozilla Firefox”. Firefox 2.0 will be called “Mozilla Firefox 2″.
