YouSendIt & Dropload – Email Large Files Easily

May 22nd, 2005
ADVERTISEMENTS

How do send a 100MB file to your friends email address?
Firstly, you cannot send such huge files from free email services like yahoo mail, gmail etc. Most of them impose a limit to the maximum file size you can send or receive. E.g. Gmail has a limit of 10MB.
It is also not advisable to send huge files to people by email as most have limited email box storage and you could easily fill it up and cause there other emails to bounce. Many free email services will not accept huge email files also.

Yousendit is a web solution of sending huge files with no hassles. No passwords to share, no software to install, no accounts to create, and no full mailboxes.

Just upload your file and your file will be stored by YouSendIt without ever filling up your recipient’s mailbox. YouSendIt will automatically email your recipient a link to your file stored on our server. Encrypted HTTPS session (SSL/TLS) ensures your data is secure.

Remember: Your file will be deleted after seven days. You can send files upto 1GB!
Dropload is another similar service, but it has limitations of 100Mb per file. The files you send are renamed and stored in a database and deleted after seven days.

http://www.sendthisfile.com seems to have unlimited file sizes (the service isn’t the limit at that point, the browser is).

I’ve had really good luck with SureSend.com and they allow free sending. They also have secure upload and download with a premium subscription.

With 2large2email (http://www.2large2email.com/), you can send files of up to 2gnb in size instead of just 1.
