Firefox’s History : Delete Individual Urls

July 15th, 2005
ADVERTISEMENTS

Does your firefox history get cluttered with links and urls you do not want? Still cant figure out a way to delete a single url without deleting and emptying the whole history?

Download Squad has a tip to do this quickly.

“For some reason I’ve ever been convinced that there’s no way to delete individual URLs from the History without just clearing the whole thing. Turns out I was wrong. In Firefox, if you want to delete an individual entry from the History, just highlight it (either in the History sidebar or in the address bar drop-down) and press Shift+Delete. Gone, never to bother you again!”

Now that takes care of those individual urls or some embarrassing link that keep comming back in the history and drop down menu without clearing the whole history.

This used to work for me all the time, then I downloaded the upgrade, and it no longer works. I can’t delete anythign unless I clear the entire history. My bookmarks are gone too (I was able to get them back once, but then they got lost again). Also, I cannot create new bookmark folders. What’s going on???

To fix the Firefox sidebar when it will no longer delete individual URLs you need to restart firefox in safe mode [accessed either on the start menu shortcut or via run firefox -safe-mode]

click on the reset toolbars entry

    and restart – FIXED!

FIREFOX AKA NEW MICROSOFT that keep your records like a spy. If big brother wants to have your info he will have it.

Today i updated firefox (ubuntu) still i cannot delete the records. maybe its time to change from microsoft influenced ff to something else they are starting to be more and more like big brother.
