JK Rowlings New Harry Potter Book Beats Sales Records



BBC News reports that the JK Rowlings new Harry Potter book titled “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” has sold 6.9 million copies in the US in its first 24 hours, beating the record held by the previous Potter release.

The previous Harry Potter book, Order of the Phoenix, sold five million copies in 24 hours in the US when released in 2003.

Author JK Rowling was at Edinburgh Castle where she read to 70 young fans who won the chance to be at the launch and interview her.

The book has gone on sale in 15 countries - including the UK, US, Brazil and the Philippines - with many bookshops holding late night openings and Potter parties.
