World’s First Open Source Beer : Vores Øl
July 13th, 2005 | Filed under Gadgets, Tools. You heard of open source software… but ever heard of world’s first open source beer!
Vores Øl (Our Beer) is an energetic beer and claims to be the world’s first open source beer. Version 1.0 is a medium strong beer (6% vol) with a deep golden red color. It is created by the “Vores Øl Group”, a group of students at the IT-University in Copenhagen.
What is different?
The beer has an addition of South American Guarana beans, which are a natural source of energy and health. Their stimulating effect nicely balances the drowsiness that is associated with beer.
Can you use the recipe?
The recipe and the whole brand of Our Beer is published under a Creative Commons license, which basically means that anyone can use the recipe to brew the beer or to create a derivative of the recipe. You are free to earn money from Our Beer, but you have to publish the recipe under the same license.
Well I am thinking of the many open source products I created with my own modifications in tea, coffee…. the world’s first? maybe…
