FedEx Furniture : Useful Empty FedEx Boxes

August 21st, 2005
ADVERTISEMENTS

Have you tried the idea of creating functional furniture for your house using FedEx boxes? FedEx Furniture did just that.

FedEx Furniture is all about creating functional furniture put together by empty FedEx Boxes, and held together by fedex packaging supplies. Jose Avila put together this cheap furniture to using Fedex boxes as he could not afford huge costs of real furniture.

And he has created a variety of furniture too -
* 9.5′ Couch
* Dining Table
* Chairs
* Bed
* Desk L-Shaped
* Original Desk

But it seems FedEx is not amused by this. A snippet taken from a Wired report says

“Fanciful as his creations may seem, FedEx is not amused. The shipping giant’s lawyers have sent Avila letters demanding he take down the site he created to document his project, invoking, among other things, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (.pdf), or DMCA.”

Anyway it was an innovative idea. What do you do with empty FedEx boxes?

    Where do you get used FEDEX boxes?
    We find them excellent for storage - strong and waterproof - but is doesn’t seem possible to purchase new ones anywhere and we aren’t really going to use them for Fedex freight. Anyone got any ideas?
