Mike Brown and his team found our solar system’s tenth planet, which is larger than Pluto and currently three times farther from the Sun. And then it was temporarily designated 2003 UB313.
“On 30 July, the world learned of a new addition to our solar system – a tenth planet. The distant body will receive a name, most probably the as-yet-undisclosed suggestion made by its discoverer, Mike Brown. But wanting to know your opinion, and having provided a few guidelines, we have been overwhelmed by the response.”
They list the top 10 names the public suggested for naming the celestial body along with the reasons. Some of the top suggested names are Persephone, Peace (or Pax), Galileo, Xena, Rupert … read on. Space and its new frontiers …
