Hurricane Katrina Relief : Red Cross Donation Corner Buttons

September 5th, 2005
ADVERTISEMENTS

I recieved several queries about how to put up those smart red cross donation corner buttons on the top right hand corner of blogs…

To encourage your blog readers to donate to red cross, this is a cool way to put up a banner. The Brial Alvey Weblog gives a detailed code to insert into you blog template and republish. This puts that triangular image on the top right hand corner of your blog. They all link straight to the Red Cross with no click tracking and no landing page in between.

Remember to upload the image on your own server, since they block image hotlinking and you do not want a broken image on top of your site.

Hurricane Katrina was a hurricane over the southeastern United States, including Louisiana’s largest city, New Orleans, on August 29, 2005. The American Red Cross has received generous online donations from individuals, foundations and corporations to support Red Cross relief efforts.

Recently Feedburner enabled publishers to splice banners into their feeds and link for Red Cross donations in support of the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. I would put up this corner donation button on my blog, but it covers the blogger navbar buttons which might violate the terms of service. So this code needs alteration to move it down equal to the Blogger navbar height. So go ahead and add those Red Cross corner buttons on your sites and allow online donations by your readers!
