This is totally different. Submitting stories that go on Slashdot front page isn't hard. I've did it myself more than once and I'm not even half of a geek. And there is no slashdotting effect on the submitter's site. Every time I've submitted a story that got published, I've had like 30 referral hits. This article, and the articles linked to, mix up two different things : being slashdotted, and submitting a story that will be slashdotted. This is totally different.

Submitting stories that go on Slashdot front page isn’t hard. I’ve did it myself more than once and I’m not even half of a geek.
And there is no slashdotting effect on the submitter’s site. Every time I’ve submitted a story that got published, I’ve had like 30 referral hits.
