Google enters into the popular competition to provide a free full featured online RSS news reader. Google launches the Google Reader!

The Blogger Buzz reports the launch of the Google Reader (with screenshots), an experiment on Google Labs. Its all about “Spend your time reading what you care about most.” When you find something that looks interesting click on its title to preview. Click on a subscribe button to get new items from that site whenever it updates. Click the headline of any item to go directly to the website where the item came from.

Entry of Google in the online rss newsreader segment is a very important development and is marking the growing popularity of blogs and feeds subscription services. This will give competition to popular newsreaders like Bloglines and Rojo.
