GIMP 10th Anniversary Splash Contest

November 24th, 2005 | Filed under Tools.

On GIMP’s tenth birthday, as part of the GIMP 10th Anniversary Splash Contest, they are “collecting images with tutorials and when it is all done, the GIMP’s Lead Developers will pick the one they find most appropriate.”

GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It is a good tool for amateur photographers, web designers, etc. who want to create and edit digital images. It is a very powerful application, with advanced image editing features.

A new requirement is that a tutorial accompany your image. The tutorials should have a text or html file that describes the steps you took and the plug-ins that you used to make your image with GIMP. Images should be in the Portable Network Graphic format (.png). Visit the contest site for full details.

Submit your splash image using the Splash Submission Form. The contest is open till 27 November. You can view the submissions so far at the contest gallery page. [Found via Forever Geek]
