World Cyber Games 2005 in Singapore
November 22nd, 2005The World Cyber Games 2005 often regarded as the Olympics of the computer gaming world was held in Singapore from 16-20 November. Have you caught on to the online gaming craze…
Over 700 players from 67 countries participated in the Grand Final at Singapore. The games revolve around six PC games (Counter-Strike: Source, Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, Starcraft: Brood War, Fifa Football 2005, Need for Speed: Underground 2 and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War) and two console titles [Halo 2 (Xbox), Dead or Alive: Ultimate (Xbox)]
Gamasutra reports the winners
“The two USA gold medals were in the Counter-Strike and Halo 2 events, with a silver in WarCraft. Second place was Korea, who also earned two gold medals for StarCraft and Warhammer, as well as a bronze in Dead or Alive Ultimate, while third place went to Brazil, whose team took both gold and silver medals in Need for Speed.”
In 2006 the World Cyber Games moves from Singapore to Monza, Italy. Online Gaming Tournaments and competitions are a craze and allows one to play games and compete with skilled players. Somehow I still enjoy playing Yahoo Games online, particularly those you can play online in my free time.
