Firefox Search Bar : Add Search Engines

December 16th, 2005 | Filed under Firefox, Miscellaneous.
ADVERTISEMENTS

If you love browsing the web with Firefox web browser, you probably use the Firefox search bar located on the top right hand corner often.

Though Google is selected by default, there are other search tools listed therein like Yahoo, Amazon, Answers.com and Ebay. You can easily select either of these and make it the default search engine in the firefox search bar.

Firefox Addon provides a long list of search tools which can be added to the firefox search bar in a single click. Several popular and useful search engines I have added are Wikipedia (online encyclopedia), del.icio.us (social bookmarking), technorati (more information from the blogosphere), Merriam Webster (for those difficult vocabulary meanings). Other useful ones are IMDb (if you like searching movies and films), Odeo (explore podcasting), ESPN (for Sports news) and so on…

If you wish to uninstall any search plugins - use the SearchPluginHacks Firefox Extension. If you want more search plugins - try Mycroft.
