Technorati Tagiversary : A Year of Tags
January 13th, 2006It was one year ago that Technorati introduced Tags, and now they have more features to offer…
Excerpts from a Technorati Weblog says
“To celebrate our “tagiversary”, we’ve spruced up the tag pages here on Technorati. The main tags page now shows a special box of hot tags, to give you a peek into what people are talking about every day.
The individual tag pages got an update, too. They now include language filtering, so you can focus on only the posts in the language you speak; and charts, so you can see how that tag is trending. For example, dig the chart on the Thursday Thirteen tag. When do you suppose that tag is most active?
We also made our tag pages more customizable. Now you can toggle the photos, posts, and links on or off. Just click the little triangle ( triangle) beside each heading to hide/reveal that area.”
A tag is like a subject or category. The bigger the text, the more active that tag is. And Technorati is currently tracking 4.6 million tags. If you run a blog, Technorati tags can get you some extra site traffic for free. Find out how to tag your posts.
If your blog software supports categories and RSS/Atom feeds like Movable Type, WordPress, TypePad, Blogware, Radio it is easy to publish your categories will be read as tags. If your blog software doesn’t support categories like Blogger which I use, you have to tag your post by including a special link in the body of your post.
