MR Tech's Local Install Extension, has a "make compatible" function. It also replaces the Restart Firefox, Sort Extensions, Remove Install Delay and Listzilla extensions. You can download it here.

Firefox really needs to fix this. It’s a huge pain. Lots of people rave about firefox, but why would someone want to rely on a browser that becomes unreliable with every upgrade? The whole idea is to customize the browser for yourself, and with every upgrade, half your customizations go away. I’m tired of it and that’s why I don’t use firefox anymore.
