Microsoft Windows Defender Spyware Protection
February 14th, 2006Microsoft Windows Defender (Beta 2) is a free program that helps protect your computer against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats caused by spyware and other unwanted software. Windows Defender (Beta 2) is the final name for Microsoft’s antispyware solution
Current Windows AntiSpyware (Beta 1) users will be notified automatically to upgrade. It features Real-Time Protection, a monitoring system that recommends actions against spyware when it’s detected, and a new streamlined interface that minimizes interruptions and helps you stay productive. It quickly and easily finds and removes spyware and other unwanted programs that can slow down your computer, display annoying pop-up ads, change Internet settings, or use your private information without your consent. Its download is available to customers running genuine Microsoft Windows.
With scheduled scanning and removal, it improves Internet browsing safety and helps stop spyware before it infiltrates your computer. You can join the Windows Defender (Beta 2) network and help report potential spyware to Microsoft. You can choose to have updates that counteract new spyware automatically downloaded to your computer. Windows Defender Beta 2 also adds support for accessibility and 64-bit platforms. This is pre-release (beta) software distributed for feedback and testing purposes. Microsoft also offers other antispyware and antivirus technologies.
