Pingoat is a service that pings or notifies a number of services that keep track of weblogs and publish them. Splogspot is the web Spam Blog Search Engine that keeps track of spam blogs or Splogs.

“Yes, Pingoat (along with Splogspot) is soon going under an acqusition. This is not a ‘multi million dollar’ acqusition, but the whole of Pingoat and Splogspot is getting acquired for an undisclosed amount.

If these popular web services are acquired by some big web company, then you could see these tools adding on more powerful features. Pingoat is my favourite blog and ping tool which I use daily.
