$39 Experiment : Asking Free Gifts from Random Companies
March 9th, 2006 | Filed under Miscellaneous, Tips.Tom Locke looked over at a new, unopened roll of stamps and thought you can’t get much for $39 nowadays. And so started the The $39 Experiment.
The $39 Experiment is all about Asking Free Stuff from Random Companies
“I decided I was going to try something — I was going to take my roll of stamps and send 100 letters to 100 different companies, asking for free stuff.”
All 100 letters were put in the mail on Friday, February 24, 2006. You can check out the all the 100 actual letters that he sent out to the 100 different companies he selected and the response he got to each. As I write this the site shows he has got free gifts worth $75.
How many times have you asked for free stuff from a stranger, expected a free gift to arrive, bought and hosted domain name to tell the web about it, and get thousands of visitors linking back and talking about it. An idea is what that matters.
I am sure Google Adsense ads on the website are bringing in lots of extra money too, though I feel they can be optimized for higher CTR and help them make more dollars!
