I was drawn to the Iconize Me service which creates cool life like caricatures for you via an online service. You send a photo, they draw your portrait caricature and send it to you. You can choose from 3 different artists, who excel in their art skills (see their samples). Rates vary from $40-50 and you get a caricature pdf, icons for Mac and Windows, JPEG and GIF files too.
