Indic Bloggers Awards for Indian Language Blogs

BhashaIndia presents the Indic Bloggers Awards that will honour Indian Language Web Logs (Blogs) for their excellence in content, language, creativity cross 8 cateogies and 11 Languages.

The Indic Bloggers Awards will surely help in promoting the use of an Indian language on the Internet. Only blogs in an Indian language started before February 2006 would be chosen for the Indic Bloggers Awards.

Nominations have begun and will close on 5 May 2006. Anyone can nominate a blog in an Indian language, only one blog per language per category. You can even nominate your blog. The 11 Indian languages are: Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Konkani, Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada and Punjabi.

Microsoft launched the portal Bhashaindia that aims at building a community of developers and linguistic academia who will contribute towards the development and use of Indian languages for PC usage. (Thanks Rajiv for the tip)
