Today I played a cool game of YUI Tetris in my Firefox web browser. And the Tetris game was created using the Yahoo! User Interface (YUI) Library

The Yahoo! User Interface (YUI) Library is a set of utilities and controls, written in JavaScript, for building richly interactive web applications using techniques such as DOM scripting, DHTML and AJAX. All components in the YUI Library have been released as open source under a BSD license and are free for all uses.

The game developer Dustin Diaz says

“Yep, I totally made tetris. Using a combination of the Event Utility and the DOM Collection utility, I was able to roll out perhaps the sweetest piece of eye candy I’ve ever built. And granted, it’s not to say that it hasn’t been done before, but with the help of YUI, this bad boy works in Firefox1.0+, Opera8+, Safari2, and IE6, and yes, it only took 2.5 days!”

The YUI Library files are provided as a downloadable ZIP archive available from Sourceforge and includes documentation, examples and source code. You too can create interactive web applications and become a games developer.
