RSS Appreciation Day Today : Promote a Feed Reader

ADVERTISEMENTS

Steve Rubel suggests that May 1 be labelled as RSS Appreciation Day.

The basic principle of RSS Appreciation Day is to promote and encourage your friends to use a feed reader. He says

“Those of us who work in PR and use RSS feeds daily need to take some responsibility in getting everyone else on our teams using a feed reader. RSS is the single most important information tool to land on a PR pro’s desktop - or web-top - this decade. I can’t think of a single technology since the Web browser that has revolutionized how I keep up to date with my world.”

“What if we made Monday, May 1 RSS Appreciation Day? Each of us will commit to getting at least one of our friends, colleagues or family using a feed reader.”

And he starts the day by explaining how to get started reading feeds using Google. Well I agree that feed readers, rss aggregators, new collectors - whatever you call them, feeds have made collecting and reading a vast amount of information on the web possible easily. If you ask me for my favourite feed reader - Bloglines is my recommendation for best feedreader.
