eBay AdContext : Contextual Ads Affiliate Program

eBay AdContext will soon lauch a new ebay affiliate program which will deliver relevant, real-time eBay listings to help maximize your ad profits.

This is a contextual advertising program which means it will scan the content of a Web site and automatically return relevant eBay ad content. These are targeted ads like Google Adsense that will deliver ads relevant to the content of the webpage and result in more reader interest and higher clickthrough.

Q: How does it work?
A: eBay AdContext was developed using eBay’s keyword selection technology, which uses proprietary eBay data to match contextual eBay ads to the Web page. The contextual ads take into account the popularity of certain keywords on eBay, not just the keywords on a given Web site, making them relevant to what people are actually shopping for on eBay.

Developers can use the new API call which returns ranked eBay keywords and categories for a specified Web page to create applications that may be different from traditional contextual ad serving.

Originally Ebay is running an affiliate program through Commission Junction, which lets you display preselected ads and earn money when some visitor becomes a confirmed, active user of eBay.com within 30 days of registration or a registered user places a Winning Bid.

eBay AdContext is not available to the public now. Sign up to the Affiliate program today and to be automatically included on the announcement email list. Although it does not mention it, I suppose it is not a pay per click program, and payment may be similar to CJ program. If you are running Google Adsense on your site, you need to check with them as you cannot run other contextual ads on the same page with adsense as per their terms.
