Famous British novelist Jeffrey Archer won a cybersquatting case which won him the the rights to the contested Internet domain name jeffreyarcher.com

Currently his official website is at jeffreyarcher.co.uk, under construction with a note that it will be launched soon. The domain name he won jeffreyarcher.com currently redirects to celebrity1000.com

Yahoo News reports that “The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), whose arbitration centre resolves disputes over domain names, said the domain name was registered and used “in bad faith” and ordered it be transferred to the author and former politician.” The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is one of the specialized agencies of the United Nations that encourages creative activity and promotes the protection of intellectual property throughout the world.

Cybersquatting of popular celebrity domain names is done with the intention to redirect unsuspecting users to another site, or sell domains at huge premium prices to their lawful domain name owners. But rather than paying a huge amount, many celebrities have started opting for a legal recourse to get their famous domain names back.

It is actually a matter of time. Grab your domain name before someone else does. Get all the top level domain extensions like .com, .net etc. You might get famous some day and have to deal with a cybersquatter. See how Angelina Jolie registered domain names of her newborn baby Shiloh Nouvel Jolie Pitt before others could get it. Register your domain name today!
