Annual Second Life Community Convention 2006
July 13th, 2006 | Filed under Events, Miscellaneous.The second annual Second Life Community Convention will occur at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco, California, from August 18th-20th.
The SLCC Design Showcase will highlight the evolution of design in Second Life from 2002 through 2006. It will showcase some of the best and most unique work from Second Life. The showcase is open to all Second Life community members and each submission should be an original work, suitable to display in a PG simulator, and accompanied by an entry form.
Friday will feature Second Life live musicians and DJs playing from 6pm until 11pm, and feature an open bar. Saturday will feature a series of speakers and panels of general interest to the Second Life community, culminating with a tag-team session featuring Philip and Cory Linden, with resident-led parties in the evening. Sunday will feature smaller, special interest group sessions, including education, business and design, as well as field trips to the San Francisco MoMA and the Aquarium.
The convention fees for all 3 days Friday, Saturday and Sunday is $150 or L$50,000 (L$ are Linden Dollars is the Second Life currency that may then be bought and sold on LindeX (Second Life’s official currency exchange), or other third party sites for real currency). Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents and is inhabited by over 300,000 people from around the globe.
