Kyle MacDonald Trades One Red Paperclip for a House
July 9th, 2006 | Filed under Deals, Events, Tips.Kyle MacDonald is famously known around the web as the Red Paperclip guy. He started with one red paperclip on July 12th, 2005 to make a series of trades for bigger or better things to fulfil his goal to become a house owner. After one year and a series of 14 bigger and more bigger trade offs he has managed to finally get his own house.
It’s “official.” I’m going to trade one movie role for one house with the town of Kipling Saskatchewan. But nothing’s official until Dom and I go to Kipling and shake hands with the Mayor. Dom and I will be in Kipling on Wednesday July 12th to shake hands with the mayor of Kipling, Pat Jackson, and Bert Roach, Kipling’s community development officer…and probably a whole bunch of other people as well.
Trace his history through the One Red Paperclip blog where he successfuly traded the one red paperclip for a fish pen, which was exchanged for a door knob and so on till finally a movie role for a house by the town of Kipling Saskatchewan, Canada. The game called Bigger or Better where you start with a small object and trade it for a bigger or better object has paid off. The red paperclip guy Kyle MacDonald finally won his house for free with this unique idea. And besides the promise to build the world’s largest red paperclip in dedication to the “one red paperclip project”, he gets his house.
“The house was built in the 1920’s and has been recently renovated. It is locate at 503 Main Street Kipling, SK Canada. It is approximately 1100 square feet on two floors. There are three bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms, kitchen, living room and dinning room. It has white vinyl siding, a new roof and eaves troughs that have been put on in the last few years”.
