New Features Planned for Ecto 3 Desktop Blogging Client

Ecto is a feature-rich desktop blogging client for MacOSX and Windows, supporting a wide range of weblog systems, such as Blogger, Blojsom, Drupal, MovableType, Nucleus, TypePad, WordPress, etc. Recently ecto 2.1 beta was released for download with major features like Amazon search and additional settings for Upload Preset.

Now they say Ecto 3 will be a major rewrite and you can read about it

“For ecto3, I’m building it up in lego-like fashion. One of the biggest changes is that there is a plugin architecture. All XML-RPC and Atom-specific requests and blog-system specific properties are now mostly handled via plugins. That way, it’s much more easier to deal with different blog systems and to release new compatible plugins. It also allows users who know a bit of code to come up with their own plugins. This plug-in architecture required a lot of hours, but is finished.”

“I was already spending a lot of time on a new Rich Text editor, based on editable WebKit, a new addition to OSX. This editor is, apart from a few details, finished and will be inserted into ecto3 at a later stage.”
