Spam Karma 2 + Akismet + Bad Behaviour 2 : Despam WordPress

By Posted 2006 Updated   BloggingSecurityWordPress

Sometime back I had talked about how Akismet & Spam Karma WordPress Plugins help to stop comment spam in WordPress blogs. Akismet WordPress Ham and Spam Statistics have helped me lookout for the Live Spam Zeitgeist which shows 102,386,728 spams caught so far, 558,181 so far today and 94% of all comments are spam.

BlogHelper says that Spam Karma 2 + Akismet is probably “the second best anti-spam method you can adopt for your blog at the moment”. And they recommend Spam Karma 2 + Akismet + Bad Behaviour 2 if your blog has a major spam problem

“This is the ultimate anti-spam solution you can implement at the moment. Its extreme overkill, and needs only to be implemented if you really have a major spam problem. To implement this, all you have to do is to install Spam Karma 2, Akismet, the SK2+Akismet integration plugin (the one right above this), as well as Bad Behaviour 2. No special plugin required to integrate BB2 with the rest.”

Spam is a major problem with WordPress blogs. If inspite of multiple anti spam wordpress plugins, you still spend more time dealing with spam than blogging, try this trio combination.

I prefer Amisket over spamakarma because sometimes Spamakarma catches real comments as spam

  2. Milan says:

The odd thing is that I have been getting spam comments that come through SK2 with the Akismet plugin and have karma of over 1000. Even if I blacklist the URIs and IP addresses of the comment posters, it doesn’t seem to help.

I am about to change over to WordPress to host my business video web site so I am interested to see what is recommended.
