Apple Ships Video iPods with Windows RavMonE.exe Virus

October 18th, 2006 | Filed under Apple, Events, Security.

Apple has shipped a few video ipods with a preloaded windows virus. Apple confirms this in an official release on their site which says that less than 1% of the Video iPods available for purchase after September 12, 2006, left the contract manufacturer carrying the Windows RavMonE.exe virus.

This virus infects only Windows based computers, and updated anti-virus software should detect and remove it. The iPod nano, iPod shuffle and Mac OS X are not affected, and all Video iPods now shipping are virus free. RavMonE.exe virus propagates via mass storage devices, so run a antivirus scan on any external hard drives, digital cameras with removable media, or USB flash drives you connected recently to an infected PC.

If you cannot buy the full paid version of Symantec Norton Antivirus or McAfee, download these best free antivirus softwares and scan for the virus.
