Pluck RSS Reader to Shut Down in January 2007
In an era where every web service is optimizing their site to provide RSS feeds and create their own personalized news aggregators, it was surprising to read that Pluck RSS Reader will shut down. Consumer RSS reader services will be discontinued January 5, 2007.
“All versions of Pluck’s RSS readers for Internet Explorer, FireFox and Pluck’s web edition will be discontinued on 1/5/2007. The RSS Readers have served our community of end users well for several years, but with Pluck’s focus in other business areas, the venerable RSS readers are set to be retired from our product line.”
The Pluck RSS readers are anyway not supported for use on the new releases of IE (version 7) and FireFox (version 2). You can export your subscribed feeds to any popular feed reader. I recently switched to Google Reader.
The competition is increasing among the RSS news readers. There are so many RSS Feed Readers and a new one is being created each day. It is not easy to compete with feature rich popular RSS aggregators like Google reader, bloglines, newsgator etc…
