Team Google Earthlings at 24 Hours of Moab Mountain Bike Race

The 24 Hours of Moab is the one of the greatest mountain bike races and is being held on 14-15 October, 2006.

In eleven years time this race has become one of the single greatest mountain bike races in the history of the sport. For one short weekend, a mountain bike city grows up out of the desert graze-lands as we host more than 5,000 racers, support crews, and spectators in a stunningly beautiful, completely remote venue and then, in two days, it’s gone. This race has drawn record numbers for the last nine years, year after year.

Team Google Earthlings is a team of five Googlers who love mountain biking and are headed to 24 Hours of Moab on October 14th and 15th. They are not pro riders and have never competed in a 24-hour race before. They have set up the Google Earthlings blog to keep you updated of their activities.

If you are going to be at the race, there will be live blogging and fun schwag too.

“Swing by our Expo Tent where we’ll have laptops running Google Earth so riders can upload their own GPS data and see their home trails in 3D. And, if we can manage to capture an internet signal way out in the middle of the desert, we’ll have a couple laptops with Blogger as well, encouraging riders to post their pics, lap times, and ride reports to a team blog.”
