100 Million Web Sites Online : Netcraft Web Server Survey
November 1st, 2006 | Filed under Blogging, Events, Tips, Webhosting. How many web sites are there on the internet? The Netcraft November 2006 Web Server Survey says that there more than 100 million web sites on the Internet, adding 3.5 million sites last month itself to continue the dynamic growth seen throughout 2006. The Internet has doubled in size since May 2004, when the survey hit 50 million.
Cheap domain names, cheap shared web hosting services and the boom in blogging services and the desire of every netizen to blog about anything and everything has led to this amazing growth. The Technorati State of the Blogosphere in August reported that they are now tracking over 50 Million Blogs, the Blogosphere is over 100 times bigger than it was just 3 years ago and is doubling in size every 200 days!
