World’s Smallest Digg Logo is Just 2 Microns

Kevin Rose blogs about the worlds smallest Digg logo of 2 microns size and explains how it was created.

“The microscope is a dual-beam focused ion beam / scanning electron microscope. So I milled the word using the beam of gallium ions, but the pictures are all taken with the electron beam. The sample was tilted a bit so that you can see that the words are actually milled into the material.”

This should be an inspiration for professional logo designers. Check out the full size image - though I still can’t understand the scientific jargon about how it was exactly made, I still love the amazing things people do…
