Gran Paradiso Alpha 1 is an early developer milestone for the next Firefox version 3 based on the next generation of Mozilla’s layout engine, Gecko 1.9. Gran Paradiso Alpha 1 is being made available for testing purposes only, and is intended for web application developers and testing community. They warn that current users of Mozilla Firefox should not use Gran Paradiso Alpha 1. Download here.

A quick look at the release notes reveals that Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and Mac OS X 10.2 are no longer supported platforms. Some important changes are that Cairo is now being used as the default graphics library, affecting all graphic and text rendering and Cocoa Widgets are now used in OS X builds.
