The Yahoo Answers (India) blog is reporting that ‘Ask the Planet’ is here in India after they asked the planet in other parts of the world.

“In the next few weeks we will have Indian luminaries and featured users ask the planet some of the biggest, thought-provoking questions that revolve around the most pressing issues we face today. The best answer to each question will be picked by the asker himself and the answerer chosen has the chance to win cool prizes.”

The Ask the Planet 2007 has started with the Honourable President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam himself asking the planet a question of international relevance – “What should we do to free our planet from terror.ism?“. You can also view the President’s video (.swf) before you decide to answer his question. They have roped in notable luminaries like Kiran Bedi, Akum Longchari, Leander Paes and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to share their thoughts on the subject. There are 11 days left to answer the question and there are 11036 answers already! Share your views.

I am reminded of the Ask the Planet 2006 Contest held last year and how Oprah Winfrey was on Yahoo Answers asking the $1000 Questions. Ever since Google Answers shut down announcement, Yahoo Answers has been wooing Google Answers researchers.
