Is Adsense Beautifier Compliant with Google Adsense Terms?

January 16th, 2007
ADVERTISEMENTS

The adsense beautifier wordpress plugin became a very popular plugin (included in my list of 10 Best Adsense Wordpress Plugins) in the past few months since it places beautiful images adjacent to the Google Adsense advertisements, which helped to increase visibility of ads, increase ad clicks and significantly increase advertising revenue.

However, Google Adsense recently clarified their Ad and image placement policy. They warn publishers that they cannot line up images and ads in a way that suggests a relationship between the images and the ads. Even the earlier tactic of inserting a small space or a line between the images and ads will not make the implementation compliant.

Still everyday I visit so many blogs using the AdSense Beautifier Plugin. Lorelle points out that the plugin author has clarified that you can still use the plugin by adhering to the guidelines.

“As It says, you can use AdSense Beautifier — just make sure that the ads and images are not arranged in a way that could easily mislead or confuse your visitors. It’s depends on your images. You should use general images that does not appear to be associated with ads.”

Anyway misuse of images are common mistakes by Google Adsense publishers. The golden rule is – whenever in doubt, query Google support. They know best if it works for them and you!

    It’s obviously against Adsense ToS.

Publishers still think that fooling users is the best way around. Check my post: Google Adsense fair use

  2. It might be compliant, but I am not sure if it will increase or decrease you clicks.

decrease your CTR? you’re kidding! if anything even having unrelated images bordering your ads makes them look more like actual content. 8bestsites.com did a great job of this in their first release before they were busted for having zero content. Simply having a left aligned table with 8 images that lined up with each ad. the images were simply the numbers 1-8. complete arbitrage, but they sure made some $

  4. It might increase or you clicks. But I doubt it is against google TOS
