New Apple AirPort Extreme with 802.11n Wireless Support
Apple Computers recently launched the new AirPort Extreme Base Station, which provides a secure wireless network, that connects 50 computers, offering up to five times the performance and up to twice the range of networks created with the earlier 802.11g standard with support for the IEEE 802.11n draft specification. This is better than the older AirPort Express with Airtunes that claimed to be the world’s first 802.11g mobile base station, which could also wirelessly stream iTunes music.
The Mac computers are well known for their ease of installation. Similarly installing AirPort Extreme is just as easy. Take it out of the box. Plug it in. Install the software, and in five minutes you are wirelessly connected. Small compact size is a hallmark of all Apple products. AirPort Extreme is just 6.5 inches square and 1.3 inches tall and will fit anywhere.
The secret of superior wireless technology of the AirPort Extreme Base Station is 802.11n, the next-generation high-speed wireless technology included with most shipping Mac computers and some newer PCs with compatible cards. 802.11n adds a technology called multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), a signal processing and smart antenna technique for transmitting multiple data streams through multiple antennas which results in up to five times the performance and up to twice the range compared to the earlier 802.11g standard.
AirPort Extreme is also Wi-Fi Certified to be compatible with existing 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g wireless standards. Still trying to manage your broadband internet wires? Go wireless with Apple AirPort Extreme and feel the power of 802.11n.
