Creative Commons Licenses Version 3.0 Launched
If you like to share your creative work with limited freedom, probably you use Creative Commons Licenses to change your copyright terms from “All Rights Reserved” to “Some Rights Reserved.” Well its time to update and select a new one as Creative Commons licenses Version 3.0 are now available.
Announcing the CC v3.0, they have spun off the “generic” license to be the CC US license and created a new generic license, now known as the “unported” license. It ensures that all CC jurisdiction licenses and the CC unported license have consistent, express treatment of the issues of moral rights and collecting society royalties. They now include the ability for derivatives to be relicensed under a “Creative Commons Compatible License”. The are also minor clarifications to the language of the licenses to take account of the concerns of Debian and MIT and more…
Choose a Creative Commons license, and you keep your copyright but allow people to copy and distribute your work provided they give you credit and only on the conditions you specify. View an explanation of all CC licenses and select which suits your needs.
