Download WordPress 2.2 Release Candidate 1

WordPress 2.2 is expected soon. WordPress 2.2 Release Candidate 1 is now available for download and testing by the community.

Previously they had decided to delay the 2.2 release from its original date of April 23 due to problems with the new tagging feature. So now they have removed tagging from Wordpress 2.2.

Some of the new features to expect are Improved comment editing, incorportated Widgets (not as a plugin), deactivate Plugins automatically and a new Blogger Import. There is new support for Atom 1.0 for feeds and they have switched to jQuery for core JS, which is lighter and faster.

Download the release candidate (.zip) and check it out. I am eagerly awaiting the final release which should be out soon once newly found bugs are fixed.
