Google Personalized Homepage Renamed iGoogle
May 2nd, 2007 | Filed under Blogging, Google, Tools. The first time I heard the name Google Personalized Homepage, I wondered why Google could not have come up with a shorter, more cool name for their incredibly useful web service. It seems that was what many people were thinking, and have renamed Google Personalized Homepage to iGoogle.
Visit iGoogle now and you can see that the new logo has gone live. Google gadgets are a fun way of powering up iGoogle to showcase daily tasks, events, fun stuff and feeds on one page. Now you can even create your own Google gadgets with no programming required.
You can add our blog Quick Online Tips to iGoogle right now and read breaking news ang blogging tips easily.
This rebranding has been a good step as competition is increasing from similar web services like Netvibes and Pageflakes. A recent analysis of our 10000 feed readers revealed that 46% used Google (Reader and iGoogle) while 8% used Netvibes. These services make good starting pages for your browser and help you track multiple feeds on a single page easily. Try it out.

I like the name iGoogle better than Google Personalized Hompage. It sounds a lot like Apple products (iLife, iPhoto, iTunes, iPod, etc) =D
