Yahoo! US and Canada Auction Sites Closing Down

Yahoo! US and Canada Auction Sites Closing Down. Yahoo! US Auction sites will no longer be accepting listings as of June 3, 2007. Listings will not auto re-submit after June 3, 2007 and as of May 4th, Auctions Scheduler and Auto Resubmit features are no longer available.

Last day to bid/buy at these sites is June 16, 2007. Last day to access remaining site tools such as My Account is October 29, 2007. This does not impact leading Yahoo! Auction sites in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. Anyway remember that US Buyer Protection Plan claims must be submitted no later than 60 days after you have been declared the winning bidder for an auction.

Ebay is so popular that competitor online auction houses sure have a tough time. If you have to sell something online, where will you put it up for auction - Ebay of course. Till recently I did not even know that Yahoo auctions existed.

I certainly agree the market is bare, and seems to monopolized. Only with serious backing from Microsoft, who was rumored to get invovled, could they have made some headway. It is sad but true.
