Flock 0.9: Social Web Browser Gets Major Upgrade

The Flock social web browser has got a major upgrade to v0.9 (so has the site!) and promises to deliver a much better browsing experience as they plan to release version 1 later this fall. Flock is a free web browser that makes it easy to connect with your friends and express yourself online, and is out there to give Firefox and IE competition with a difference.

Announcing the update, some of the major improvements are

* MyWorld: a dynamic home base for all your favorite sites, feeds, and media streams
* Flock’s Media MiniBar - fast access to photos and videos on Flickr, Photobucket, Youtube, and Truveo.
* Accounts & Services sidebar - offers easier configuration and enhanced discovery and activation logic
* Improved Favorites with folders and support for Ma.gnolia and del.icio.us
* Blogging: Improved UI, integrated Clipboard, support for all major Blog services including Blogger, Wordpress, Typepad and Livejournal

Compare how Flock 0.9 is better than Flock 0.7. However, the release notes reveal that there are still some known issues in the 0.9 Beta Release.

Flock lets you receive updates when friends have new photos, videos or blog posts; upload multiple photos to popular photo sites; drag and drop photos and videos from Flock’s Media Minibar to email, comment fields, blogs, etc.; and collect your favorite photos, videos, and text from the web and blog them instantly. Bloggers may find the Flock browsers a useful companion to their blogging routine.
