Microsoft Offers Free Repair of XBox 360 Three Red Flashing Lights Errors
July 6th, 2007Many Microsoft Xbox 360 console owners have been experiencing a general hardware failure indicated by three flashing red lights. Microsoft has acknowledged the unacceptable number of repairs to Xbox 360 consoles, and is enhancing its Xbox 360 warranty policy for existing and new customers.
Xbox 360 support has a list of solutions when the three lights on the Ring of Light (RoL) flash red on the front of the Xbox 360 console. Since it is a hardware failure, there is not much you can do.
Microsoft Corp. has announced an expansion of its global Xbox 360 warranty coverage. Any Xbox 360 customer who experiences a general hardware failure indicated by three flashing red lights will now be covered by a three year warranty from date of purchase.
“Microsoft stands behind its products and is taking responsibility to repair or replace any Xbox 360 console that experiences the “three flashing red lights” error message within three years from time of purchase free of charge, including shipping costs. Microsoft will take a $1.05 billion to $1.15 billion pre-tax charge to earnings for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 for anticipated costs under its current and enhanced Xbox 360 policies.”
Microsoft has also decided to reimburse customers who have previously paid for repair expenses related to the three flashing lights error message on the Xbox 360 console. Here is an Open Letter From Peter Moore explaining the new warranty scheme, taking responsibility and continuing to ensure that every Xbox 360 owner continues to have a great experience.
So what are you waiting for? If you purchased a Xbox 360 console within 3 years and are experience this kind of hardware failure, Microsoft will repair the console free of charge including shipping!

My company IT WORKSTATION has been in the field of console repairs since 2001. We install modchips for XBox, Xbox360, Playstation and PS2 consoles. We repair dead consoles, consoles with disk read problems and nearly any other fault. I have recently fixed the Red ring of death for the xbox360. This is caused by overheating of the processors that leads to the processor solder joints getting undone. We are able to fix this as we have an infra red SMD rework station. Very few repair shops in this country . MUMBAI SERVICE 24HRS 9819767710 Andheri west
i had my xbox 360 break down on me like a year ago. I tried plugging it in the other day and it still had the three red rings of death so i dont know how long it takes to cool down but for those of u who say that thats the only thing u could do to fix it is full of shit….
I had the 4 RROD and my xbox360 just froze up and would not play I did every thing but went out and got a new cable I thank that the cable is not the problem I did not see any damage on the cable and no dust and I have a HD TV so it ant the TV like I told the service rep.I sent my 360 in for repair don’t know what they found they probly won’t let me know eather but I hope I did not wast my $124.99 dolars for repair.I feel like they should replace all the early 360’s with new 360’s.
DAMN IT! I bought my 360 at a pawn shop for $160.00 about only 8 weeks ago and already it has the 3 RROD! I haven’t tried anything yet, but I will today, and if anyone could please tell me if I can still send it to go get changed, It was an awesome system, but why the hell does it have that stupid rip off glitch? Damn! I just want to know if I can still send it to get repaired.. I don’t have shit of Proof of Purchase or anything, but I have the system, the games, and the hard drive, and the memory stuff of what we did. Plus we spent as shitload of money buying the Rockband series for around 150 bucks, and Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 for 60 bucks! and Halo 3 for 40 bucks, the list goes on and on of the money we spent on the 360. so please microsoft, help me out here.
Thanks if you do and thanks in advance to anyone else who helps me.

Nick…Seriously man, be pissed at Microsoft all you want. They crushed the PS3 and their games are better than any other systems. PS3 and WII ain’t got crap on 360. Take care of your stuff, maybe it will work a little better. Plus their warranty covers it. So what if it’s rushed, it’s even more pathetic that they did rush it and it’s still better than any other console. Chew on that.
yes, you must admit, if microsoft hadent gotten the 360 out before the ps3, they would have lost a TON in sales, they pretty much broke even when thay had to shell out the 1 billion to provide free RROD repairs, but overall, i love the system more than the wii or ps3
I got the xbox for a christmas present my parents bought it from a pawn shop after I started playing it 2 months later the three rings started showing and I just left it alone.
What do you have to do to get you xbox 360 fixs For the love of god.

whenever i hear about the ring of death i can’t help thinking of the movie with Naomi Watts
well I got an xbox 360 for free because of the 3RROD…. reregistered it.. got the info… cost $99.99…. send it in…. found out today it’s “fixed” and coming home…still no charge to the old AMEX :-)…. maybe it is a freebie fixer? I hope so because it was free to start with :-). so free + free = REALLY SWEET!

p.s how long duz it take to get back to after isent it off 4 repairs ????????????????????
If you purchased a two year extended service contract, your 360 should be covered for FIVE YEARS, NOT THREE YEARS. If you purchased a one year extended service contract, it should be covered for FOUR YEARS. If no contract, THEN only three. That is how it works, the extended contract adds to the three-year Ring-of-Death Warranty.
microsoft should not try to get more money from customers after all the money we’ve spent on games, the console itself, xbox live, gamerpoints. im not covered by warranty anymore and im pissed off that there isnt a lifetime warranty on that piece of crap console!!!! three red rings was created by microsoft to purposly make more money adding up to millions of $$ in profit allready.
Hi i was wondering if you could give me step by step instructions…i have an electronic label… What do i do with it???????
