Google Search Stops Labeling Supplemental Results
August 4th, 2007Webmasters have an obsession to find how many urls of their site are sitting in the Google Supplementary index and try out ways to get these urls out of “Supplemental Results”. Google says that the distinction between the main and the supplemental index is narrowing and the Google’s supplemental index is deeper and fresher than before… so Google search has stop labeling these URLs as “Supplemental Results.”
Google has announced the reason for this search modification -
“Since 2006, we’ve completely overhauled the system that crawls and indexes supplemental results. The current system provides deeper and more continuous indexing. Additionally, we are indexing URLs with more parameters and are continuing to place fewer restrictions on the sites we crawl. As a result, Supplemental Results are fresher and more comprehensive than ever. We’re also working towards showing more Supplemental Results by ensuring that every query is able to search the supplemental index, and expect to roll this out over the course of the summer.”
Just recently the older code queries for finding Supplemental Results had stopped working and buzz was around about new ways to find Supplemental Results. But now none of them seem to be working… I wish they incorporate this feature in Webmaster Central.

For those of us that work to find our supplemental pages, this is going to make things that much harder. I agree with you, this should now be a feature of the webmaster tools.
Interesting article, I recently started my new website..
And before I even submitted to google, I see that it is constantly being visited by the googlebot more than anything else..
A sure sign that google’s indexing is indeed extremely fresh and constantly on-going.
