Akismet is old, there are better things now a days, go to wordpress.org plugins and you will find some.

But Akismet will not stop spam from your contact form (it blocks comments spam). I am glad I secured my contact form. The spam emails from wordpress in my gmail is zero now. :-)

the best solution is still akismet!
it litterally stopped all the spam on my site

I use a plugin called “intouch”. No spam issues as of yet !
