Hackers @ Microsoft Renamed %41%43%45%20%54%65%61%6d

ADVERTISEMENTS

Microsoft had recently launched a blog called Hackers @ Microsoft which was meant to blog issues related to white hat hackers and legal hacking, however, for the average reader it was confusing, so they renamed the blog to this amazing name %41%43%45%20%54%65%61%6d

They discuss the final renaming of the blog…

“Initially I had named the blog “hackers @ Microsoft” and tried to be pretty clear on the point that when we’re talking about hackers, we’re talking strictly white hat, legal and ethical hackers. However there was some concerns raised that the average blog reading audience may not be able to discern the difference, and we may inadvertently associate Microsoft with the negative connotations of the word “hacker” that is out there. So to alleviate that concern, I’ve changed the name of the blog to “%41%43%45%20%54%65%61%6d”. “

The %41%43%45%20%54%65%61%6d blog has the same url and talks the same stuff. I know you are still amused by the funny blog name, but it fits the Microsoft hacker blog profile well…

Inside Microsoft explains the answer very well - They advise you enter
javascript:alert("%41%43%45%20%54%65%61%6d")
into any web browser address bar and a popup will answer.

If you are lazy enough to do that too - It is code for ACE Team!

Good topic! This subject kind of reminds of the time when I was reading something similar a while back regarding the differences between coders and script kiddies.

I got to be honest, when I first heard the term, “hacking”, I thought it was all confined to illegal activity. Not until I started doing a little coding myself, did I realize it meant modifying something in the code or app to make it work more efficiently. A good short-cut sort of speak.
