Google Highly Open Participation Contest



Google Highly Open Participation Contest offers pre-university students the opportunity to contribute code, documentation, localization, testing by participating in open source projects development. They are looking for students over 13 years who have not yet begun university studies… are you interested?

GHOP contestGoogle Highly Open Participation Contest involves partnering with ten open source organizations who will provide a list of tasks to be completed by student contestants from bug fixes to writing documentation to user experience research.

Contestants will receive a t-shirt and certificate for completing at least one task, $100 for every three tasks completed (max $500) with ten grand prize winners including a trip to Google’s Mountain View, California, USA Headquarters for an award’s ceremony for themselves and one parent or guardian.

Remember, students must be enrolled in a pre-university, e.g. high school or secondary school, educational institution and will need to have their parent or guardian’s consent to participate.

    I’ve enrolled, picked up a task and I’m excited.

    I’m not aiming high since what matters is participation at the moment.

    And I know this will be a great experience for me :)
